🌿 You're not broken. You're Human!

I’m so tired of hearing the narrative that we need to be more or less.
More resilient, more productive, more energized.
Less sensitive, less emotional, less… affected.
As if grief, trauma, loss or fear are things to overcome—if we just try hard enough. But what if there’s nothing to fix?
We are living through intense times. Climate change, political division, global unrest, rising mental health challenges—it’s a lot to carry. There’s a heaviness in the air, even on the days that seem okay. And still, we’re told to keep pushing. Keep coping. Keep optimizing. It's no wonder so many of us feel sick, anxious, and exhausted! These aren’t signs that we’re broken. They are normal human responses to an overwhelming world.
We are forever changed by what happens in our lives. It’s natural to protect ourselves, to adapt, to grow scars. Sometimes that looks like rewriting old stories—or letting them go completely.
What I long for most is the freedom to be fully myself in every season of life. And some days, that self is tender. Emotional. Quiet. And that’s okay.
This is what Nature continues to teach me.
There is a soft, honest relief in being accepted by the forest, exactly as you are. No judgment. No pressure to be anything other than what you are in that moment.
With each visit, and each season, Nature gently shows us how to slow down. How to unwind our busy minds. And in the quiet, we can begin to hear our own inner wisdom again.
The message I hear most often? “You’re not broken. You’re normal.”
Deep, immersive time with Nature is a beautiful way to feel more human again. To reconnect with a rhythm that is steady, compassionate, and healing. There is both ancient and emerging science that explains why time in Nature is so restorative for our bodies and minds. It's part of what I teach on every experience at The Wild Edge.
